About Us

Cub Scout Pack 270 is located in Frankfort IL.  We have a membership of approximately 100 boys.   As a pack we work towards giving the boys experiences that are both fun and educational.
We have exciting Pack meetings at Grand Prairie Elementary School each month, as well as many activities throughout the year.

Scouting builds character which leads to inspiration.
Mike Rowe, best known as the host of the Discovery Channel series Dirty Jobs penned this to a potential Eagle Scouts who was thinking of quitting at age 15. He wrote:
“Only 1 out of 100 Scouts make Eagle, so if you fail, there will be lots of other people with whom you can share excuses. Quitting now might disappoint your dad, but I doubt that he or anyone else will be overly surprised. Anytime 99 out of 100 people do the same thing, it’s not exactly a shock.
I’ll just tell you straight up, that doing something extraordinary can be very lonely, and most people simply aren’t cut out for it. Being an Eagle Scout requires you to be different than most everyone around you, and being different is really, really hard. That’s why the award is “an accomplishment”.
Personally, the best decisions I’ve made in my own life are those decisions that put me on the outside of being cool. Especially earning my Eagle, were choices that required sacrifice, hard work & delayed gratification.
I have no idea if you possess those qualities, or even envy them. But I can tell you for certain that NOT getting your Eagle, will be one of the easiest things you’ve ever done.”

I know that not every scout will attain Eagle or even go on to Boy Scouts.  We are only in Cub Scouts.  But Cub Scouts is the foundation and bridging step into Boy Scouts. We're involved with Cub Scouts because we think the fundamentals of Boy Scouts and the accomplishment of Eagle is not only important, but special.
